RETIRÉE TENNIS AND FRIENDS (RECREATIONAL MIXED ADULT)

One member of team tennis!            Another member of team tennis!

FROM WHEN THE SNOW MELTS, TILL THE SNOW FLIES (and even after)

Retirée tennis will be held , but the time and number of days each week will vary, depending on the month and on the weather.

In colder weather, we have played in minus 15 degrees C (-15°C) temperature, with a full sun and no wind.

The courts of course must be dry or if wet, not slippery.

The number of players we can accept during the colder months depends upon the number of courts we can keep clear of snow or ice.
In the winter of 2009-2010, we actually played 87 of 89 days between December 21, 2009 (First Day of Winter) and March 19, 2010 (Last Day of Winter).

In June and September: 9:30 AM Start (Monday-Friday); 12:30 PM Start (Saturday-Sunday).
In July and August: 7:30 AM Start (All Days).
In cooler seasonal periods, start time is 12:30 PM (All Days).

Always Weather permitting

Players must realize that this is a mixed male-female event and that play is generally at a recreational level.
We will play with up to 8 players rotating per court with no player sitting out longer than every other serving game.

Novice players (those who have never played before) must be enrolled in their beginner’s lessons (June-August - included in your general membership)
before coming over to r
etirée tennis, so as not to unduly slow down the level of play. As well, you may at first be required to play with players of the same skill level.

You do not need to be retired to play, although most will be. All Adults are welcome.

Over the course of the year, players are encouraged to bring two cans of new balls (please, yellow)
which they will introduce into play as they see the need.
